Synopsis

Nate Deventer is about to go from standing in the wings to dancing into his future. Review

A Dance of Love and Jealousy by Roland Graeme is a good book about the lives of dancers, and specifically about the life of one Nate Deventer. Nate is a young dancer who has his specific ideals about his life, his work and love. The cast of characters around him include the self-proclaimed stud Dane Stockton. Nate, it seems, has a crush on someone in the dance world and that crush is about to become a part of Nate’s world and that’s not all. Come along as Graeme takes you on a voyeuristic tour of Nate’s and his companion’s life for a season. You will enjoy the ride!

A Dance gives a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes in the dance world; hours of practice, choreography, dual roles in parallel shows, romance, sex, love and, of course drama. I don’t know if Graeme has experience with the dance world or if the picture he paints here is realistic, but it seems likely in any event. Nate, though young and new to the company, knows that he doesn’t want to be another conquest for Dane and decides who and what he when it comes to choosing his sex partners. When Romuald Ghent, his idol, comes to town as the guest choreographer, he gets a chance to experience the man in all of his wonderful glory – as a dancer, a choreographer and a lover. An explosion occurs as the chemistry between these two men meet head to head. But, when Henri Keller, Ghent’s lover and the guest star of the season’s gala ballet Eclogues comes to town, what was drama looks pretty calm when the shit hits the fan! And Nate delivers his performance of a lifetime! Don’t miss out on this story. It’s worth the read!
